I like the idea on the face value. But the author ignores one important concept of our economy. We are a debt based economy. If debt rises, we grow. If debt gets paid off, we slow down. I.E. Our current problems are lasting so long because people are saving (or paying off debt) instead of going into debt. So, though the plan might work in the mid-term to stimulate the economy, the short term would have massive issues, because $X amount of money would just cease to exist in our system, causing unemployment and more problems.
To grow the current economy, consumers must be convinced to go into more debt. Not get rid of their debt, i.e. their student loans.
Though going into more debt is crucial for the economy, personally I do not advocate for more debt. Actually, I am trying to do the opposite that the government and marketers are trying to do, which is to convince people to stay away from debt.
Let the other guy go massively in debt and experience that slavery, you earn your freedom and stay away from debt.
No Sucker Left Behind is the only book that blows the lid off colleges' scandalous price-gouging schemes. More important, it includes innovative tools to fight back and get a valuable degree for less.
