The College Board Exposed

This article from The Big Money at Slate.com could be the best article ever written about The College Board. The article exposes the extreme profits and near-monopoly enjoyed by this so-called "non-profit" organization.

I have long wondered about the value of the SAT. Is it really an appropriate assessment of a student's readiness for college, or just a big money grubbing scam? I transferred from a Canadian college to a U.S. college never having taken the SAT, ACT or any other similar test. I graduated with a B.A. and a 3.70 GPA from Gonzaga University in 2004. According to the College Board's perverse standards, I shouldn't have even been accepted into college.

I truly wonder if success on the SAT and its ilk is more a measure of how much your parents paid for an expensive test-prep course than it is of college readiness.
